Buy the parts for the PCB build

Two complete fixtures · LIGHT v0.2 / cbb8d9fc · reviewed 13 September 2026

Check a required line when its full quantity for both fixtures is covered by an order, usable stock you will have in Canada, or an equivalent included part. If you choose an alternative below, also check the required line it replaces; that line will then leave the remaining-shopping list. Your checks save in this browser, independently of the earlier bench checklist. They do not sync between your phone and computer.

Selection notes matter: “Specified” identifies the required part; it does not certify supplier stock or delivery. Rows saying “Select” or “Confirm” still need that decision before purchase. DigiKey Canada product links were checked on 13 September 2026 where an exact match or clearly labelled candidate was found. Prices, stock and delivery dates can change; verify them in the cart. A Canadian storefront does not mean the parts ship from a Canadian warehouse. Printed gimbal structures and diffuser supports are excluded.

Order from fewer suppliers: DigiKey links below cover the cable-side connectors, shorter PA/PH leads, Carclo optic, mounting tapes and selected assembly supplies. Keep the specialist sources for the manufactured PCBs, VALENT X tape, motors, custom spotlight star/housing, diffuser and aluminum tube. PSU/input hardware, moving-wire specification and dimension-dependent fasteners still need selection. Do not add the already-fitted main-PCB components to your order.

Alternatives and shared bench supplies0 / 12 checked

These do not count toward the required-purchase total. When an alternative covers a required product, check that required line above too. Tools are shared and needed only if you do not already own suitable ones.

If supplied backing is inadequateConditionalConfirm thermal contact and tape backing on the actual tube. VHB 4611 is specified under the flex bands, not blanket foam underneath the LED strips.
DigiKey · StarTech USB315AC1M1 shared cableIf not ownedOptional 1 m USB-A-to-USB-C data/charging cable for J14, if your computer has USB-A. An existing suitable data cable is enough. USB is not the fixture operating supply: provide external 24 V. Retain the normal VBUS conductor; choose a USB-C host cable instead if required by your computer.
DigiKey · SHR-04V-S housingDigiKey · SH contacts, strip of 1001 shared setOptionalOptional J15 service alternative. Linked housing and contacts do not include a USB-UART adapter. Use 3.3 V logic and three contacts for GND/TX/RX; leave the board power contact unconnected. DigiKey 455-2963-100-ND is a 100-contact strip, so a verified prewired harness may avoid waste. USB normally covers programming.
1 shared setIf not ownedFor strip pads, flex solder stations and switch leads. Follow the flex assembly temperature/process limits; the main PCB arrives assembled.
1 shared setIf not ownedGH contacts still need tooling unless buying completed harnesses. A generic JST-XH crimper does not establish compatibility with GH/PA/PH terminals.
1 shared meterIf not ownedVerify harness continuity, polarity and absence of shorts before connection.
1 shared supplyIf not ownedCommissioning with controlled current and an accessible disconnect. The ARM switch does not cut motor or mains power.
1 shared instrumentIf not ownedVerify spotlight housing, LED tube and PSU temperatures in the actual assembly.

What the adversarial review changed

  • Corrected the tape arithmetic: actual 2.46″ cut increments give 11.48′ for two fixtures with the provisional ring allowance. Ring geometry still needs a dry-fit.
  • Recovered the actual spotlight configuration and housing: the bench uses warm-white XP-E2, cool-white XP-E2 and PC Amber; the documented housing is DLH-3UP-EH. A generic three-LED star may have the wrong internal connections.
  • Added two omitted mounting adhesives: 1.1 mm VHB 4611 under the flex bands and 0.05 mm 467MP for the static gimbal flex. These are user-applied; they are not the factory PI stiffeners.
  • Corrected the Yupo identifier: the maker lists L21-YPT153WH1114; the earlier Amazon title used YUP.
  • Reduced loose-crimp purchasing: exact PA and PH pre-crimp lead options are listed. GH wire compatibility and moving-loop lengths remain unresolved.
  • Separated mains integration from the old bench BOM: the PSU, socket input, insulation, retention and associated hardware must be selected together. The earlier 90 W PSU and its insulation assumptions are not an automatic fit for this revision.

The remaining selection work is concentrated in tube supplier/thermal confirmation and mounting dimensions, spotlight configuration/thermal check, PSU/input arrangement, GH wire and moving harness routing. These are open assembly decisions, not evidence that the manufactured boards have been physically validated.

Do not buy these twice

The factory PCBA includes the ESP32-C6, driver electronics, regulators, protection parts, C504 and all fitted board-side connectors. The old ESP32 dev kit, PCA9685 modules, ULN2803s, PicoBuck, Pololu regulator, protoboards, socket headers, JST-XH kit, XT30 adapters and bare bus wire belong to the earlier bench build. They are not required purchases here.

J1 takes bare stripped power wires; J2 takes the upper flex directly. The static gimbal stations are solder connections. J18 is expansion solder pads, not another fitted connector. J16 brake/bus hardware is not required for the initial build; decide on an energy-dissipation accessory only if commissioning establishes a need. The previous frame's extra 608ZZ bearing is also excluded.

Reference and scope

Connector quantities and pin functions were checked against the native main board with SHA256 starting cbb8d9fc and the corrected 241-part factory BOM, not the older hand-wired harness guide. See Doc 9’s connectors, the actual bench spotlight, and Doc 10’s flex geometry and assembly holds. Product links in the tables support identification; distributor links are not live stock or shipping guarantees.

The 120 W PSU figure is a conditional sizing allowance, with bounded LED duty and motor input assumptions. It does not release unrestricted simultaneous loads or establish enclosure cooling. Keep the current 4 A commissioning envelope until measured testing supports changes. The ARM switch is a lighting interlock, not a motor emergency stop.
